How do I get from Tromsø Airport to the city centre?
★ asked often
Take the red Airport Express Bus (Flybussen) right outside the terminal exit — no stairs, fully accessible with large luggage, ~20 minutes to the city centre. City buses 40 and 42 are cheaper but require steps and get crowded with large bags. Taxis are available but expensive for what is a short trip.

Do I need to rent a car in Tromsø?
+
Not necessarily for the city itself — buses and walking cover most city attractions. For day trips to Kvaløya, Lyngen, Senja or remote northern lights locations, a rental car gives much more flexibility. Winter roads are generally well-maintained but require winter/studded tyres (mandatory Nov–April).

Is Moxy Hotel far from the city centre?
+
Moxy is not in the city centre. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel and it takes about 10 minutes by bus to reach the centre. Most guests recommend bus or taxi rather than walking, especially in winter. Comfort Express Tromsø, Radisson Blu and Clarion The Edge are in the city centre.

Is it safe to drive in Arctic winter conditions?
+
Yes, with the right preparation: winter/studded tyres are mandatory November to April, roads are well-maintained, but ice is real. Check road conditions at vegvesen.no. If you have limited experience on snow and ice, guided tours are a safer alternative for reaching remote spots.
